St. Michael’s Infants R.C School
Only one log book is available for the school but it only covers a short period prior to closure in 1974.
It would appear that the infant’s school was established circa 1947 and closed in 1974 but we think it may have opened earlier than 1947. The following gives some of the staff who served the school which we are sure will be rembered by some.

I attended Elba Lane from 1955. Think I went to the big St Michaels after my first communion but not sure.
I attended , St. Michael’s Infants R.C. School, ELBA LANE, from approx 1941 for about 2 years, when you then went to the HALL, which was across the road
from the old St. Michael’s Infants R.C. CHURCH AND School which I believe was in Salamanca Street,. From there you went on to the main school building.
Therefore the school had 3 different buildings. ELBA LANE was a wooden construction built around a playground and assembly area.
At St. Michael’s Infants R.C. School, ELBA LANE there was a water emergency brick built emergency supply, as there was all over Glasgow.
There was also an air barrage balloon between the school entrance and Barr’s Irn Bru which was the next buildings.
